Juego de Niños - Child’s Play, by Newton Moreno

Mexico, an eight-year-old boy. He has forgotten his father’s name—after crossing the desert together, his father had to let go of his hand. Today is the day that the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s Shelter Supervisor promised that his father is coming to get him.

Honduras, an eleveb-year-old girl. She was taken to the shelter because her parents were kidnapped by ICE officers while she was in school. She has her first period at the shelter. She believes that the bleeding is a sign that she is dying because her yearning to be with her parents is too strong.

Nicaragua, a thirteen-year-old boy. His father sent him over the wall to follow a coyote three years ago. To pay for his journey, he was trafficked to perform child labor at a slaughterhouse that processes chicken meat for fast food companies. Nicaragua ran away after watching his 16-year-old friend get killed on the job. He is afraid that his father will no longer want him because he is not a child anymore.

Forthcoming at Pillsbury House + Theatre in February 2027.
