Reasons for Moving: immigrant stories from the Mississippi Flyway
This short documentary film that poetically connects immigrant experiences and bird migration. It features footage from the performance of the same title alongside testimonies by Monica Bryand, Executive Director of the Urban Bird Collective, senior immigration attorney Alexis Dutt, and scholars Ernesto Cappelo, Arjun Guneratne, and Roopali Phadke. Performers and interviewees contribute personal stories and professional knowledge to tell us about different experiences of immigration, displacement, and resettlement. Minnesota has long been home to immigrants from the four corners of the world, and the Mississippi Flyway makes the state a major route for bird migration.
